MAIKO NAGAYAMA puts great importance in the design development process. Customers have the unique privilege of being able to keep rough samples, rouch sketch design, drawings, and the wax etc... as a special memory for the customer.

Changing the gemstones

You could be able to change the centre stone according to your preference and you could also set more diamonds or colour stones inside of the ring shank, as well as on the side of the ring shank. The majority of engagement rings and wedding bands are set with diamonds because of the durability and the hardness of the material, however, there are a variety of different types of engagement ring that can add some colour and vibrancy to make your ring different and special. For example, Princess Diana's ring was set with a beautiful, vivid blue sapphire as the centre stone with diamonds set around it - it is one of the most iconic engagement ring styles in UK. Some customers choose the partner's birthstone as the centre stone or an additional stone inside of the ring shank as a reminder. We also had a customer who wanted a bit of colour, but she still preferred the hardest material - a diamond for the centre stone - so we have found for her a fancy canary yellow diamond as her centre stone. You can choose the type of metal according to your preferences. 9ct gold is harder which contains 37.5 % of gold and has more of a champagne colour in comparison to 18ct gold.

Changing the finishing of the surface of the metal

You are able to choose the finishing of the surface according to your preferences. You are also able to have different types of finishing on one ring, half and half.

-Gloss finish (Highly polished)

The surface of the metal shines just like a mirror; it is the most common and standard finishing of the surface. This finishing makes the diamond shine the most.

-Hairline finish (Matt)

We apply the delicate lines just like a silk hair on the surface of the metal in order to create the beautiful matt finish effect. This finishing blends into your skin naturally and it is very elegant finish and it is popular with male customers.

-Sand-blasted finish (Matt)

We blast sand-silica onto the surface of the metal using to create an elegant and refined style of finishing. This finishing also makes scratches on the surface unnoticeable.

Changing the thickness and the width of the band

lender ring shank gives the impression of elegance and the bolder and heavier the ring shank has a more modern look. According to the size of your hand, you could choose the design, thickness and the width of the ring shank according to your preference.

-the average of the ring shank width is 2.5mm - 3mm

-2.0mm width is slighty more slender than standanrd and elegant. For male customers, 2.0mm would look too dainty, therefore from 2.5mm would be more suitable.

-2.5mm is a timeless, classic look

-3.0mm would gives a great sense of presence

-4.0mm has a more profound look
-4.5mm would look unique

MAIKO NAGAYAMA's designer will draw a prototype of your desired design and decide how to go about crafting the piece. After drawing out the rough design, we will send you a quotation. After the confirmtaion of the order and agreement of the design, we will go ahead to start creating your bespoke ring.

2.

We create wax or resin samples of your agreed design. In this stage, the 3D version of your ring is sampled to check if any amendments are necessary for your full satisfaction.
