In 1999, 17 years old Maiko Nagayama came to England by herself with dreams.
She was born in Tokyo and surrounded by her father's architecture works. Maiko developed her passion for design and art making from a very young age, peeling off wall paper and creating shapes in her bedroom and always sitting next to her mother drawing quietly on her mother's diary. Her British sojourn broadened her mind as she absorbed the different culture and fields.
She graduated BA Jewellery design in Central Saint Martins in 2006 and also GIA (Gemology Institute of America) graduated gemologist.
After collaborating with Osman Yousefzada in London Fashion Week in 2008, she developed her own vocabulary of futuristic unique forms, essentially abstract but evocative of cosmic, aquatic or human worlds.
She received a silver award in the category of design - fine jewellers Elizabeth Gage award in 2008. Since then, she has been exhibiting her work in Goldsmith Hall.
She established her own fine jewellery label in 2009.
She revealed her first collection in 2011 for the first time in Dubai International Jewellery Show with good reception.
